Governance

Developing improved frameworks for governing AI in Canada and shaping effective regulatory policies.

AI is rapidly evolving and consuming the data we generate through our online interactions. As a result, democracies are striving to identify suitable regulatory responses.

Our research focuses on two key areas of governance: first, the regulation of AI, and second, the impact of AI on information, beliefs and the overall health of democracies. We will assess the regulatory approaches adopted by countries in the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development)

The outcome of our research will provide recommendations on how Canada should regulate AI while prioritizing literacy-specific mandates that foster the development of digital, media and AI skills.
