The growing use and influence of AI—or predictive technologies—in today’s society has reached a point where questioning their impact on human existence is not only relevant, but critical. We call this inquiry digital transparency.

Research

Our research focuses primarily on artificial intelligence (AI) literacy, data safety and governance or regulation. We evaluate and develop public-facing literacy tools explaining how AI so that we can establish best practices for using AI safely and to promote its effective application. We also apply our knowledge and expertise to support AI governance and regulation efforts.

Collaboration

Our teams collaborate with national and international researchers working with tech businesses, nonprofits, libraries and public governments. We address AI literacy, approaching this important research area through our collective expertise in human-computer interaction, visual computing, human rights and ethical governance.
